The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced aviation leader to serve as the General Manager of Engineering and Accountable Manager for the Rex Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO). The Accountable Manager is a regulatory position and subject to Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approval with consideration given to qualifications, experience and knowledge. Candidates must possess a strong working knowledge of CASR 145.
This role reports to the CEO and sits on the Senior Management Team.
Regular travel to other engineering bases throughout the Rex network will be required. The position will be based in Adelaide, Sydney or Wagga Wagga.
Key Responsibilities Overview
- Regulatory Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for CASA and ensure the AMO complies with its Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and relevant regulations and standards.
- Safety & Quality Management: Establish, promote, and endorse the organisation’s Safety and Quality Management policies, and oversee all related safety and quality matters.
- People: Ensure the AMO has sufficient number of qualified personnel to meet its maintenance obligations now and in the future. Management and development of senior engineering resources and oversight of any training and performance related matters.
- Financial Accountability: Exercise financial decisions and ensure that all maintenance system activities are appropriately funded. Requirement to prepare, implement and monitor the AMO budget.
Key Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in a senior engineering management role within a regulated aviation
- environment, with a strong background in people management, management of engineering
- financials and workflows;
- Thorough understanding of Part 145 and CAR1988 regulations, knowledge of Part 42 regulations and Safety Management Systems and Quality Compliance Systems;
- Eligible to hold an Accountable Manager position;
- A technical background in aviation engineering is required;
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and strategic persuasion skills;
- The capability to drive a positive and proactive safety culture; and
- Strong computer literacy with proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
